Hengrave Hall wedding photographer | Just One

Finally, a Just One post with just one image! I love this image from Ali and Ian’s wedding not only because of the magical bit of light catching Ali at just the right moment but because of that expression. It’s completely sums up what I see week in week out, that first moment the bride and groom see each other at the top of the aisle in front of their friends and family about to get married. For me, waiting for that moment was the most anxious bit of my wedding day (that and the first dance, but that’s another story!) when my lovely wife-to-be had walked down the aisle and was standing next to me, I knew then that everything was going to be alright, it was just her and me and we were about to be married, I never felt calmer. Or more excited.

Congratulations to a fantastic and fun couple. More images to follow soon.

Sussex wedding photographer | Antonia + John

Sussex wedding photographer. Antonia and John were originally married in California and had come back to Antonia’s parents house in Heyshott, W Sussex for a blessing with UK family and friends. The Californian weather wasn’t quiet there – pretty good for an English summer’s day and a genteel English garden tea party. A low key day for two loving and gentle souls, surrounding by family and friends. I know I’m supposed to say the star of the day was the bride (and Antonia did look absolutely stunning) but their little daughter Amelia stole the show with much cooing and clucking from everyone who met her. Here are a few of my favourite images from the day and you can see the full gallery by clicking this link.

[...] Antonia and John’s Sussex Blessing [...]

Sussex wedding photography | Just One

Antonia and John were originally married in California a few weeks ago and came back to Antonia’s parents house in Sussex for a blessing ceremony. Very relaxed day with tea and cake before the ceremony (hmmm, cake) and champagne reception after. Plenty of babies and kids to make the most of the beautiful gardens and cause much cooing, clucking and the odd bit of flowerbed rampage. Antonia was very relaxed throughout the day until she called up to do an impromptu speech …and the first dance, which she wasn’t expecting at all. But that’s the joy of family dropping you in it at the last minute.

Here’s a couple of favourites (note to self, think of new title for this section of the blog…) and more to follow soon.

Syon House wedding photographer | Fiona + JB

What an amazing day – good weddings are all about chemistry and Fiona and JB have great chemistry. Really great chemistry! They were both determined to enjoy their wedding day at Syon House but, and this is the sign of a good wedding, they were determined that everyone was going to as well. Fun, love and laughter and lots of it. Syon House is an amazing backdrop as well, the main hall to get married in, the inner court yard for your reception all topped off with the evening in the stunning conservatory beautifully lit by Yes! Events. Being a Syon House wedding photographer is always a joy but none more so when you have such a lovely couple to work with. You might notice as well that Fiona is quite keen on bubbles. Here are a few of my favourite images from the day and you can see the full gallery by clicking this link (you’ll need a password).

Botleys Mansion wedding photographer | Friederike + Simon

Botleys Mansion wedding photographer. This was always going to be a great wedding for me – Simon is an old friend and I’m happy to say, Friederike is now a new friend. Botleys Mansion is one of Bijou wedding venues stunning country houses, add in some sunshine and you have the perfect day. Also in the mix was a German bride (timings meticulously organised) and an Australian groom (“yeah, whatever mate, just go for it”): German wedding traditions of tapping the wine glasses throughout the meal until the bride and groom kiss and Australian wedding tradition of bringing a bottle of rum to the table. The day started with a very civilised drinks reception before the ceremony outdoors. Followed by a very relaxing reception in the glorious sunshine – which actually left a few of the Aussies confused, I mean England in the sunshine, they weren’t expecting that! Whatever next, England winning the cricket? Here are a few of my favourite images from the day.

Syon House wedding photographer | Just One

Fiona and JB’s wedding at Syon House was an exercise in how to have fun – fun, loving and laid-back couple with fantastic friends and family, beautiful venue and plenty of champagne. What else could you want? Well, that blummin’ sunshine that we’ve been having no stop for the last month to shine for the reception for a start. Ho hum. Not to be and something that didn’t dampen the mood at all (just made this photographer a little annoyed, that’s all!) Here’s a couple of shots from the day – the first, not your usual romantic, fluffy couples shot but I just love this moment. Fiona had been on her feet all day and this was the first opportunity she had to sit down, unbidded JB started massaging her feet, now that’s love! The second shot is of the conservatory at Syon House, what an amazing building. Syon House wedding photographer. There’ll be more pics to follow soon.

Dalhousie Castle wedding photography | Alanna + Patrick

Off to Dalhousie Castle in Scotland for the wedding of Alanna and Patrick. Both Alanna and Patrick along with family and friends had travelled over from the States for the wedding and were gifted with glorious weather (not what Scotland is known for but when it happens, it is the most beautiful country in the world – the rest of the time, it’s just a bit grey and rainy!) The weather did still keep us on our toes with the occasional bit of rain but not enough to ruin the day or stop us from wondering around the grounds for some stunning photo opportunities. One of the features of getting married at Dalhousie Castle is that your wedding rings are delivered mid-ceremony by an owl. There was a moment when I thought the owl wasn’t going to let go of the rings and the best man would have a battle on his hands (not a situation they cover in the wedding manual for best men) but after some gentle encouragement, the owl let go. There was a more traditional end to the evening with a cèilidh - the first few reels left most tied up in knots (quite literally) as they were all beginners. And I suspect, all too sober …well, it’s what whisky was really invented for, to help you dance better! Dalhousie Castle wedding photography.

Botleys Mansion wedding photographer | Just One

Just One image from the wedding at Botleys Mansion of Friederike & Simon. Perfect wedding day, amazing wedding venue, beautiful bride and a good looking groom, doesn’t really get better than that as a Botleys Mansion wedding photographer! The ordered and organised nature of Friederike’s German family and the laid back and casual attitude of Simon’s Aussie family came together in a ying and yang kinda way and made for a great wedding. Congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs Slee, hope you are enjoying that beach honeymoon! Botleys Mansion wedding photographer.
