Hengrave Hall wedding photos of Rachel and Dougan. The day started early with the boys at Hengrave Hall in the boys room – a room designed totally with boys in mind – large screen TV, pool table, card table and a small bathroom (well, who needs a large bathroom when there’s football on TV and pool to be played, right?) Then over to Long Melford to see how the girls were getting on and needless to say, they were getting on a lot more efficiently! A short walk over the freshly mown strip of common (good work Mr Lee) to Long Melford Church. Long Melford church is one of the most beautiful country churches in East Anglia and the reception was held at Hengrave Hall, again one of the most beautiful weddings venues. Good thing we had a good looking bride and groom to match up with the backdrops! I’ve been looking forward to this wedding for a long time – you couldn’t ask for two lovelier people to work with on their wedding day than Rachel and Dougan. To be honest, they could have got married anywhere and the intensity of emotion and chemistry would be there by the bucket load but as it was they were married in the beautiful and ancient Holy Trinity Church at Long Melford (a short walk from Rachel’s house) and onto the fantastic Suffolk wedding venue of Hengrave Hall, a amazing backdrop to a fantastic day. The most telling point of the whole day was right at the beginning when I was talking through the logistics and timings with Dougan (groom’s usually need reminding & usually at least a couple of times!) but Dougan took it all in and just replied “I’m getting married to Rachel, that’s all that really counts”. Can’t say fairer than that. So many favourite shots to choose from the day but here’s one that stood out. Hengrave Hall wedding photography. More to follow soon.

Hengrave Hall wedding photos on an idyllic summers day, what could be better? Well, include a beautiful bride and a very happy groom, lovely family and friends and a glass or two of champagne and you are pretty much there. Alexandra and Ian were married in the beautiful village church of St Peter’s, Moulton nr Newmarket and had their reception at Hengrave Hall. Ali and Ian were a lovely couple to work with, so perfectly matched for each other, and willing to put up with my slightly hectic schedule for the group shots – but when I say ‘my’ schedule, it was because a special surprise had been laid on for the couple and their guests and I had to have everything done half an hour earlier than planned …but without letting anyone know! Thankfully we got there fairly seamlessly and it was worth the extra effort. I was also lucky enough to be working along side two legends in this business we call weddings (legends is probably a big word, we’re not talking about Gladiator here but quality folk helping out on your wedding day are the ones that can make all the difference) Colin the Milsoms/Hengrave wedding maestro and Dan of FromtheHip video

Finally, a Just One post with just one image! I love this image from Ali and Ian’s wedding not only because of the magical bit of light catching Ali at just the right moment but because of that expression. It’s completely sums up what I see week in week out, that first moment the bride and groom see each other at the top of the aisle in front of their friends and family about to get married. For me, waiting for that moment was the most anxious bit of my wedding day (that and the first dance, but that’s another story!) when my lovely wife-to-be had walked down the aisle and was standing next to me, I knew then that everything was going to be alright, it was just her and me and we were about to be married, I never felt calmer. Or more excited.

Congratulations to a fantastic and fun couple. More images to follow soon.

We had some pretty extraordinary snow up here in Suffolk so when my good friend and fellow photographer Guy Hearn said he was photographing a wedding at Hengrave Hall, just around the corner from me, I volunteered to step in just in case he got snow bound. Thankfully for Charlotte and Mat, Guy turned up in plenty of time and did his usual stirling work. I did go along for a few hours to help out. And very glad I did (although it took my toes a long time to thaw out afterwards). Hengrave Hall wedding photography is always a pleasure all year round. Thank you to the happy couple for letting me tag along and braving the cold for some lovely photographs.

Wedding photography at Hengrave Hall is always a great day – Hengrave Hall is a stunning venue, somewhere as a photographer, I could photograph inside and out all day long. Here’s a sneak peek of a few images of Sarah and Joe’s wedding, more to follow soon.
