Durham Castle wedding photography of Lara and Simon

"We absolutely LOVE the photos - they are beautiful and very elegant -  you have really captured how the day felt for both of us.  Thank you very much indeed for doing such a brilliant job!  We both thought you were wonderfully professional on the day and, in patricular, I should say how grateful I am for how extremely sweet you were with me in the morning when I was a bundle of nerves and you kept managing to say the right thing to distract/calm me.  You were so unobtrusive at every stage that we often did not notice that our pictures were being taken and we never felt under pressure to do anything unnatural for the camera, and the results are just gorgeous."

Durham Castle wedding photography. Off to Durham this weekend for the wedding of Lara and Simon. Familiar territory for Lara as she was at university here. It meant a trip down memory lane for a lot of the guests opening the betting on what state they will end up at the end of the night re-living old memories!) Lara looked flawlessly beautiful and was graceful throughout the day. A few morning nerves were quickly dispelled as the day got underway. No such nerves for Simon, calm and confident, quintessential army officer – I think the only moment the cool, calmness looked like faltering was when the guests got handed a photo from the stag party … and I think the less we say, the better (except possibly nice gloves …)!

Durham University wedding photos

One of the great joys of being a wedding photographer is seeing familiar faces at weddings. None more so than Simon’s brother whose wedding I photographed a while back at Stoke Park. Vicky and Ian were there with their latest addition to their family. I always have to do a little double take when I see couples again. The last time I saw them they were suited and booted and looking incredibly glamorous for their wedding day; the next time I see them, they are beaming with pride whilst cuddling their newborn but looking a little sleep worn!
