Maidens Barn wedding of Vanessa & James
Maidens Barn wedding. There’s an old trick that is particularly relevant on a wedding day – it you think you are feeling nervous, tell yourself that you’re not nervous but excited. There’s a fine line between the two as far as our brains are concerned and we just need to tell our heads which emotion we should actually be feeling. With Vanessa and James’s wedding, there was no confusion at all – they were both very, very excited about the day ahead! And that feeling never really stopped from the moment I first saw them until long into the evening. It did make for an incredible emotion ceremony.

I thought James was going to be okay but when Vanessa walked down the aisle, looking as stunning as she did, it was no surprise that emotions got the better of him. I think it was a little infectious as there wasn’t a dry eye in the house after that. The rest of the day was full of laughter, a glorious thing to be a part of even more so as it made my job that much easier!
Maidens Barn is a fantastic venue, self-contained with plenty of space for the ceremony, the reception and the meal without having to wait for things to be moved around.
We were lucky enough to have warm, dry and even sunny weather (!) so we could spend some time outside (although there was a pretty ominous set of clouds looming on the horizon). I don’t think anything could have stopped the amount of fun James and Vanessa were going to get out of the day though, they were just beaming all day long.

It’s always a privilege to be a part of someone’s wedding day. But it’s certainly a pleasure when you are working with a couple as lovely as these two – many, many congratulations to them both.
I’m never quite sure who is the more nervous before a wedding – the bride or the father of the bride.
