Oxford wedding photographer | Magdalen College

Oxford wedding photographer. Off up to Oxford this weekend to second shoot for my good friend Jamie. It was Janeen and Owen’s wedding at Magdalen College and it’s always a rare privilege to be able to not only help another photographer but to be invited in to someone’s wedding day. Magdalen College is spectacular, steeped in history and grandeur. The chapel is magnificent and provides a hugely impressive backdrop for any occasion. But the formality of the venue in no way reflected the relaxed and welcoming nature of the whole wedding.

The day started with the boys at Quod, just a short walk up the High Street from Magdalen. Owen looked a little nervous, like all grooms do, but held it together very well. I have to say though, sitting at the top of the aisle in that incredible chapel, I think most grooms would feel a little daunted. Janeen arrived looking stunning. But there was a little panic that the bridal bouquet had been left behind. Quick spin back to the house which gave everyone a bit of a breather before heading in to the chapel. Not sure if that time calms the nerves or not but the nerves definitely didn’t show with Janeen.

After the ceremony, there was an opportunity to make the most of the college, in particular the beautiful cloisters. As a photographer, I get drawn to the emotions around me and the light in any situation. And the light in the cloisters is sublime. I could photograph there all day. But no time to get carried away, it was off to St Hugh’s for the reception and evening entertainment. Luckily, one of Owen’s new family just happens to run Penguins Event company which is incredibly useful when it comes to these kind of things! Kev, Max and their team made the college dining hall look stunning and provided all the entertainment for the rest of the evening.

The weather was a typical spring day, rain one minute, glorious sunshine the next – great for wedding photography but it does keep you on your toes. Wedding photography in Oxford is always a great experience, spoilt for choice with stunning backdrops all around. And wedding photography is that much easier when you have such a fun and glamorous couple as Janeen and Owen. Oxford wedding photographer.
