Jewish wedding in Rome

Wedding Photographer Rome. It was an early flight out on a Sunday morning to Rome for Melissa and Rick’s wedding in Rome. August in Rome is fantastic – it’s hot but it’s also a lot quieter than the rest of the tourist season. Any local worth their salt packs their bags for the month and heads off to somewhere cooler. As long as you don’t do too much in the midday heat, it’s a glorious time to be here. I came out to Rome with Melissa and her Mum for a reccie a few days before the wedding as hoping on a plane from London is relatively easy nowadays. We went through all the security at the synagogue and had a chance to walk through things at the reception venue. As well as having a chance to make the most of the not so crowded streets beautiful sunshine.

Synagogue in Rome

The wedding was held at The Great Synagogue of Rome. It is a hugely impressive building sitting high on the skyline of Rome and ornately decorated inside. It’s imposing through out and a wonderful space for any ceremony especially a wedding ceremony. Like all things at Jewish wedding ceremony, there are moments of intense solemnity and then there are moments of joy – one of my favourite traditions for Italian weddings is the storm of rice you are showered with as the couple leave the synagogue. You’ll be finding that stuff in your clothes for days!

Wedding in reception in Rome

After the ceremony, it was over to Palazzo Brancaccio for the wedding reception. We are in the heartland of grand Rococo style buildings and this was really one of the most extraordinary and beautiful versions. It pretty much has everything, grand palace interiors and set amongst roman ruins and park land. It really doesn’t get more spectacular than this. A sumptuous 7 course meal meant that the dancing didn’t start until midnight but that was perfect as it was the coolest part of the evening. Wedding Photographer Rome.
