Rushton Hall wedding photos. It was a beautifully warm and sunny day, perfect for any time of year. But more so because Lisa and Ian’s Rushton Hall wedding was at the beginning of February. Looking through the photos of the day, I have to keep reminding myself this was the middle of winter. Snow drops on the ground, no leaves on the trees and the low winter sun hugging the horizon all day.
Rushton Hall winter wedding
I couldn’t quite believe the gloriously lush and unseasonal winter weather was the surprise backdrop for Lisa and Ian’s wedding. Rushton Hall is a spectacular backdrop in it’s own right but bathed in warm, winter sunshine it really is quite beautiful. Blue, crisp winter skies, thick carpet of snowdrops enjoying the sun and the sandstone buildings just glowing in this brilliant winter weather. I would have happily taken this weather on a summer’s day

Lisa and Ian had their civil ceremony before the day got under way. Quiet and intimate ceremony with just their immediate family and bridal party. No less emotional though. Lisa looked stunning in her first wedding dress of the day (well, if you’re going to get married, you got to make the most of it!) Then it was up to oak panelled four-poster bedroom to get ready for the rest of the day. It was from this window that I saw the boys heading down to the church and I thought I’d just nip down and grab a few photos. As I was leaving, Lisa mentioned that Ian and his best man were top triathletes – even in tails, they moved fast and I had a job to catch up with them!
It is a short walk down the main drive and along the road to the church where the blessing was held. If the first ceremony was emotional, this really topped the bill!
With all winter weddings, you pretty much plan to be inside most of the time. Today, the guests had the choice of sunshine on the terrace as well as the comfort of the rooms indoors. Even the courtyard which would normally be in cool shadow at this time of year was pleasantly welcoming. Then onto the Rushton’s Grand Hall where you could see the huge amount of effort that had gone into every detail of the day. Stylish simplicity and so very elegant. The last of the winter sun gave way to the candles of this ancient and intimate space. The wedding started to feel very wintery now.
Winter at Rushton Hall
The chemistry between these two lovely people is just magic. A reflection of this is intensity of the kind words that were spoken throughout the day and especially during the speeches. Although Ian did get roasted by his best man during his speech, it would be rude not too!
The evening melted seamless from meal to party. Perfect opportunity for guests to sit and catch up whilst others hit the dance floor. A belting day all in all! Rushton Hall wedding photos.
