Granary Barns wedding photography. Two things are pretty much guaranteed when you plan a wedding on New Year’s Eve: the weather will be a challenge; and that everyone will be ready for a party! That was pretty much the case for Nick and Elle’s wedding – the weather was a bit grey and chilly but the party was exceptional going on late into the new year. The day was superbly planned and put together and ran so smoothly. Although I think Nick might not have thought so during his best mens’ speech!
New Years Eve wedding at Granary Barns
The day started in the cottage opposite the Granary Barn, a lovely space for all the girls to get ready. Tolly was there to deliver the wedding bouquets and he always brings a huge smile and warming dose of enthusiasm with him. It was then over to St Andrews Church at Cherry Hinton to see the boys before the guests arrived. Nick was looking a little nervous and lot excited. St Andrews Church was a lovely backdrop for an emotional ceremony, beautifully candle lit for the occassion.
After the ceremony, it was just warm enough (just!) to do some photos before the guests headed over to the barn and we headed up the road for some more photos of just Elle and Nick. In an old chalk quarry where they both walk regularly, we made the most of a glorious winter sunset. We could see the sky change from grey to pink to golden reds before settling in on a winter blue. We didn’t have much time but that was okay as the sunset, the temperature dropped significantly. Time to head to the barn to warm up.
Granary Barn winter celebrations
As massive fans of all things skiing, there was a wintery ski theme to the details in the barn. Guests spread through out the venue enjoying the drinks reception before heading into the main barn for the meal and evening party. I love this space, it’s huge yet filled with rustic charm. The evening flowed seamlessly from speeches to meal to an after dinner breather before heading into the wedding and new years eve celebrations. Even the vicar was on the dance floor impressing all with her silky dance moves!
