Nether Winchendon wedding. Seeing Nikki and Michael on their wedding at Nether Winchendon House felt like an extension of a much larger party of celebrations. I was lucky enough to be with them for their civil ceremony in London – being book lovers, it seemed only right that they were married in Marylebone Library. A couple of nights before the wedding, Nikki had a family party in the Carriage Barn which turned into a spectacle of colour and dancing, quite brilliant. So by the wedding day itself, we were well and truly settled in and ready for the main event. And what a day it was!

All the weddings I have photographed at Nether Winchendon House have had the wedding ceremony else where and then back to the terrace or carriage barn for the reception and the party. A marquee had been put up on the lawn by the house providing another dimension to an already fantastic wedding venue. Michael arrived along the drive in traditional style, greeted by Nikki’s family and then taken to the marquee to wait for his bride. Nikki got ready in the house so it was only a short walk to the marquee for the ceremony.
Although this was a traditional Hindu ceremony, which is very intricate and solemn, it never lost sight of the joy and laughter of the occasion. It was a wonderful theme that ran through the whole day; reverence and respect but filled with a huge amount of fun. It was something that was really touching to see through out the wedding, from the ceremony right through to the dancing at the end of the evening. As always, it a privilege and pleasure to be a part of someone’s wedding day but none more so than all the wedding celebrations that Nikki and Michael had.
