Wedding photos in Stoke-by-Nayland

Caroline and Hugh were lucky enough to be able to celebrate their marriage at a truly unique bit of Suffolk countryside. Tendring Hall Park is just on the edge of Stoke-by-Nayland, a stunning piece of English countryside. It is also a short drive from the church in Stoke-by-Nayland where the ceremony was held.

There has been a record of an estate on the Tendring Park since the early 1300s. The only real visible remains of the once grand country house from the late 1700s is the portico and it’s four pillars. You can see why the house was originally built here, the views are spectacular. We don’t get much in the way of hills in Suffolk but the vista over the Stour Valley to the river with the once landscaped grounds. It is a view that is constantly changing as the sun moves through out the day and we were lucky enough to end the day with an incredible Suffolk sunset sky, full of pinks and purples.

Tendring Park wedding

The boys met up for an ushers lunch at The Anchor at Nayland, a great little pub a bit further down the River Stour. Private room upstairs for the meal and a relaxed catchup before the formalities began. I love this pub as it’s perfect for so many things – sitting on the river bank watching the world go by all the way through to a big old lunch with your mates before your wedding. It’s a great Suffolk pub with bags of style and brilliant food.

For me, it was a real treat to meet up with the eminently capable and modestly charming videographer for the day, Ben Clowes. As entertaining as he is talented. Good to know that the day was in safe hands.

Stoke by Nayland Church

Hugh looked relaxed and ready for the day ahead. The boys had obviously done their bit in delivering him safe and nerve-free to church. The wedding itself was held at the magnificent church at Stoke-by-Nayland. We are incredibly lucky that we have a lot of very large churches built around the time that the wool trade was thriving in these parts. They are beautiful as much as they are grand and are a stunning backdrop for a wedding ceremony.

It’s always a lovely start to a wedding to see so many friends walking up the church path, beaming as they see other friends they haven’t seen for all too long. Plenty of hugs and enthusiastic handshakes. The ladies looking effortlessly elegant and the gents dapper in their tails.
