Sri Lankan wedding Suffolk wedding venue Hengrave Hall

Wow!! These are just amazing. We knew you’d do a fab job, but it’s amazing how well you captured the happiness all around that day :)

Sri Lankan wedding Suffolk wedding venue Hengrave Hall. Sarah & Mev’s wedding always promised to be an incredible day. And it really didn’t disappoint! Blue late summer skies, a a warm day and Hengrave Hall looking at it’s glorious best. A perfect combination for the back drop to a  fantastic day. Sarah looked stunning and so very elegant; Mev kept his calm facade throughout the morning but it wasn’t long before he was beaming smiles and laughter. That calm facade also took a little knock when the best men handed him the largest glass of gin during the speeches but that’s another story!

London engagement shoot

I first met them both properly at their engagement shoot in London. You could tell straight away that these two were made for each other. Mev’s quiet and calm exterior quickly melted away with Sarah’s laughter, enthusiasm and that contagious smile. On the morning of the wedding, I mentioned to the best men about how formal and proper Mev was. They all looked at me slightly bemused “don’t worry, that doesn’t last long …if at all”.

Sri Lankan wedding blessing

There were several ceremonies for the day. The first was a civil ceremony held in the wood panelled banqueting hall. The next was a blessing under the tree. It was a bit blustery but made for my favourite part of the day. Everyone standing around close to the couple as Mev’s relatives took the ceremony. Candles were lit in the porch of the church by Mev, Sarah and their parents and the smell of the jasmine flower chains was incredibly intense. Then it was into the chapel for the final blessing of the day. By this time, nerves had transformed into excitement and they both had the biggest smiles for the rest of the day.

Hengrave wedding reception

A short walk from the chapel to the west terrace to enjoy champagne reception on the lawn in the sunshine. It was time to celebrate now! Superb meal, as ever, followed by some of the funniest yet most heartfelt speeches I’ve heard in awhile. And one of the largest glasses of gin for Mev from his best men. How he was still standing after that was a great effort. Maybe it helped his very smooth first dance. If he thought he’d be able to rest after that, there always seemed to be someone lingering with a tray of shots. I suspect that there may have been a little bit of payback.
