The buzz of the day started with the preparations in the house. The bride and her team upstairs and the boys in the snooker room downstairs. Excitement all around was palpable. We then had a short walk down to the church by the lake for the wedding ceremony. Marishka made quite an entrance with her open top Beetle. The church is ancient and intimate, very little room making it all the more intimate.
Our day started off in St Giles House Hotel in the centre of Norwich. The groom’s party were looking incredibly buffed and polished as only you would expect members of the RAF to be. Everything looking immaculate from buttons and belt buckles to swords and medals. There was also that slight feeling of don’t move too much until after the ceremony so we don’t get anything dirty!
When I was asked to photograph Tsumi and Rich’s wedding in Aberdeen, I spoke to the bride who recommended me and she said “yes, the big pink castle”. Oh, okay. Not sure if it was a wind up or not, I smiled politely and waited. Glorious summer sunshine greeted me at Aberdeen airport, I wasn’t expecting that. And although I was half expecting a big pink castle, I was very pleasantly surprised by the beauty of Midmar Castle and impressed not only by it’s history but that of it’s current owner, Tsumi’s Dad – but that’s another story.

Rushton Hall wedding photos. Beautifully warm and sunny day, perfect for any time of year but more so because Lisa and Ian’s Rushton Hall wedding was at the beginning of February. Looking through the photos of the day, I have to keep reminding myself this was the middle of winter. Snow drops on the ground, no leaves on the trees and the low winter sun hugging the horizon all day.
After a quintessentially English church wedding in the stunning church in Framlingham, it was a short walk up the hill to the castle for a wedding reception inside the castle walls. But not before Janina and Sam were stopped at the castle gate for a traditional Polish bread & salt blessing. And followed later by more Polish vodka. Na Zdrowie!
