Hampshire Tipi wedding. I met up with Pete and Charlotte before their wedding on Charlotte’s family farm. We had an engagement shoot on the a month or two before the various herb crops were at their best. I was promised quite a display for their wedding. I really wasn’t disappointed! You cannot over-exaggerate the beauty of the fields in full bloom. And the smell is incredible. The camomile field next to the tipi was a field of snowy white. It looked like an alpine scene in winter, just with glorious summer sun shine.

The scents of various herbs were very much the underlying theme of the day. The peppermint and camomile fields in the background, the day was decorated with lots of lavender. From the farm to the church and to the tipi, you were absorbed in the smells. That calming effect was doing its job with the boys at the ushers lunch. A very chilled out and relaxed meal in the pub garden, not a sign of nerves in sight.

The girls were getting ready up at the farm. Charlotte is ferociously efficient and her preparations were no different. Impressive amounts of organisation all done with charm, elegance and huge smile. Then it was over to the church to get ready for the ceremony itself. Pete was ably assisted by his faithful Labrador with him at the top of the aisle. On a lead, just incase he saw a squirrel and decided to take chase. The Labrador, not Pete.

The day started bright and sunny, perhaps the odd grey cloud but nothing of any concern. But from the moment Charlotte walked into the church until they walked out, it poured down. My heart sank – rain in a field with a tipi, that’s not ideal. Incredibly the weather was picture perfect the moment they stepped out of the church. Perfect for a horse and carriage drive through the camomile fields for some photos. I don’t think driving a horse and carriage through the field is recommended farming practice but it was stunning.
Then onto the tipi for the party. Nothing nicer than to sit in the sun with your mates and have a catch up, especially when you do it style. The heat of the day gave way to the golden sunshine of late afternoon and time fo the speeches. The speeches were pitch perfect, awkward enough to keep Charlotte and Pete on their toes but generous, kind and full of emotion. The day was ideal for keeping the sides of the tipi open for the evening which is always an added bonus.

Then the party. What a party! Rockabilly wedding band on cracking form, getting everyone on the dance floor. Great to see so many familiar faces there. I left as the evening was well under way and I hope they partied until late into the night. It was a perfect day for it!
